    Battle of the Band Mechanics

    1. Contest is open to all amateur bands with a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 10.

    2.Genres to be played are: (4/four songs)
    - 1 OPM
    - 1 Rock
    - 1 Reggae
    - 1 Own choice

    3. Playing time- A maximum of 18 minutes, and 2 minutes allowance for stage and musical instruments preparation. The next minutes after the allowed maximum playing time, 1 point demerit for every succeeding minute…

    4. Contestants must pay registration fee of P45.00 per band member.

    Band profiles must contain the following to be eligible for the contest:

    1. Band Name.
    2. Genre of music.
    3. Band member and instruments played.
    4. Band profile and background.
    5. Date the band was formed.
    6. Influences.

    5. Band members should at least bring their own musical instruments excluding the drum set.

    7. Registration forms are available at La Riqah Restobar, Barrio fiesta cottage 3
    Center mall, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

    8. Deadline for submission of registration will be on October 15, 2009

    Judging will be based on the following criteria:
    Interface with audience – 15%

    * Verbal Interaction? Did the band introduce themselves at all? Did the band talk to or with the audience?
    * Physical Interaction? Did the band physically participate with the audience e.g. Eye contact, head nod, acknowledgments, waving, gesturing, dancing with the audience or giving hand signals.
    * Confidence. Was the band confident in their interaction with the audience?

    Quality of performance – 45 %

    * Confidence/Competence. Did the band look at ease whilst playing? Did the band appear to be able to do what they wanted to do?
    * Set Dynamism. Did the band’s set list appear to play according to a plan i.e. was it well constructed and able to manipulate the audience’s mood?
    * Stage Presence. Did the band use the stage effectively? Did the band appear positive about their performance? Did the band interact effectively on stage? How did the band cope with any problems they may have encountered?
    * Conformance to contest rules. Did the band followed the rules stated in the contest i.e. time limit, profanity?

    Presentation – 30%

    * Attitude. Did the band’s on-stage attitude appear suitable to their genre i.e. were they ‘Punk’ if Punk, ‘Raucous’ if Rock?
    * Appearance. Did the band show personality on stage? Did the band appear to enjoy what they were doing?
    * Entertainment factor/Showmanship. Did the band entertain? Did one or the entire band display showmanship towards the crowd?

    Audience Impact – 10%

    ·Audience Rapport - Out put of the audience towards the performance of the band.
