nice... 3600+ 256kb L2...
I think AMD cuts its cach because not of low budget but because AMD doesn't need those huge
cache to measure up with the Competitor.Â*
Who needs those huge cache anyway if AMD has a superior achitechture.
to cut the price they cut the cache =)
AMD's superior architecture has already been exceeded with Intel's new core.Originally Posted by akari

I don't think so. Intels Architechture is still catching up with AMD.Originally Posted by fd

Intel wins the benchmarks based on their unreleased cores vs the current processors of AMD.
Seems that Intel and AMD as their own advantages namely Intel is good in marketing and spreading rumors about their processors.
While AMDs disadvantages is that they are very secretive on their products.
peace..
are you talking about intel's ngma?Intels Architechture is still catching up with AMD.
The main reason why AMD does this is to provide competition on the low end market segments of dual core processors like what intel is doing, these 3600+ will be placed on OEM systems as budget dual cores. reading the articles states the reason anyway.
Also Conroe will be released between July 11 to July 23rd but some guys already have a retail version of the chip ( non-ES ) with conroe Intel has taken the performance crown from AMD.
cutting the cache down to 256K of this Dual core wont really lead to a huge performance penalty
Yeah in gaming maybe a lower min fps, and in video encodinga few more extra secs/minsOriginally Posted by yob
