Getting someone's attention in whatever way you're comfortable with involves flirting. Flirting was a popular '80s term for trying to get someone's interest in a more subtle way than coming on strong. Unfortunately, flirting has received a bad rap, and these days is usually part of a complaint: "I saw my boyfriend flirting with another girl." Or "I don't like her, she's a flirt".
I think basically it's the wrong mindset about flirting. You may not know it but flirtation is an art. Proper and effective flirting can actually cause magic. Its effectiveness lies mainly in the manner by which it is carried out. Too much can be construed as vulgarity -- its magic actually lies in subtlety, in a rather refined manner which the ladies are known for.
Which approach do you use when you're trying to meet someone? Are you a good talker, engaging others in interesting conversation, or do you sit back and wait to be courted? Do you "come on" strong with sexual signals, or more subtly "flirt"?
Now, let's talk about it. You might have some brilliant tips stored up in there...
