QUESTION: What does it mean when you have a reservation for a flight?

I made a reservation on Cathay Pacific. I haven't booked it yet.. and have til November 23 to book it. Will it be OK to pay on November? Or do I have to pay for it ASAP?

If someone makes a reservation and PAY will I lose my seat??

based on experience, there are some airlines where you can reserve a flight but not reserve for a seat. reserving a seat is separate. unless you reserve a seat, that seat can be taken away, and there is a risk of losing that particular flight and that means you're gonna have to find a different flight/flight schedule if that happens.
