I tried searching for some threads regarding my experience with BDO credit card but found nothing, so here I go:
Yesterday when I reported at the office, I received a mail coming from BDO which I got curious about. I opened it and to my surprise, there I read my first billing for a BDO credit card that I never even got to touch! This is just plain ridiculous! Where on earth did I ever apply for a BDO credit card? Where did I sign up for anything like this?
The bill reflected that I should pay on or before Sept. 28, 2009 the amount of P75 for the membership fee. Membership what? BUT wait, at least that's not much to pay for but I worried what if somebody has the card in my name, and used it to spend at my expense! Clearly, I thought somebody must have already activated the card coz, here I got a bill already!
This afternoon, Sept. 12, 2009 I decided to pay BDO SM a visit hoping I could be enlightened on this. An information attendant said to me that they don't entertain credit card inquiries but anyway I told her about my problem. She gave me a number to call.
Ok, so I got the number and hurried to the nearest phone center called, and had a conversation with a girl agent. I asked her how the hell I got a credit card bill that I never even applied for? She asked me if I have an account with BDO, hell no! She tried to verify some personal information like my full name, address and date of birth, no discrepancies, they must have a very accurate information about me! How?
She told me to wait for a moment and so I have to listen to the talking ads over the phone and it got kinda boring because it was taking too long! Then finally the agent came back on the phone and told me it must be a case of some referrals given to them. Ah, so that must answer why they have a pretty accurate information about me. I asked her who's responsible for giving them such info, and she apologized stating they can't disclose such information. No fair!
To make these senseless conversations short, I asked her where my supposed BDO credit card is and she said it still yet to be delivered! Whaaatttt

You mean the bill got delivered ahead of the credit card?
Well, at least the card hasn't fallen into the wrong hands. I still have to receive it.
Now, my point is, I believe they are stepping into my privacy and it looks to me that it is some kind of a fraud. Is it that easy nowadays for banks to impose these kinds of things? If you come to think of it, this may pose a bigger problem later on if you are not quick enough to act on it.
Guys, do you think they deserve to learn a lesson? I need your opinions or if u have already experienced this, please air your concerns here too.
I have to make clear that this was no mistake in sending me that bill based on the very accurate information that they have about me. IT was deliberate.
Could there be any Regulatory agency that takes care of this?
