Read the reviews thoroughly because this is one feature-packed processor. You'll also understand why Intel is phasing out Core i7-920. My only concern is the integrated PCIE. I wonder what's going to happen with AMD since this is targetted to the AMD's flagship processor at a cheaper price and a much better performance. A processor truly meant for the masses.

the integrated pcie sure does wonders sa gaming, pero the i7 still tok the prize according to reviews http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ield,2379.html

as for AMD, maybe its time they stop daydreaming and start doing the dirty works.

well, the i5 is meant to be a mainstream processor anyway so i'm not suprised why the i7 (bloomfield) took it all away. anand's article was excellent; it points out a serious flaw in the processor -- SLI/Crossfire on high-end graphics. if you need 2 x16 PCIE, you seriosuly need to consider the x58 chipset as this processor's limited to a single PCIE x16 lane only.

as for AMD, they really need a conroe to get back to this. this is just like history repeating itself when Intel was desperate to compete with AMD's offerings and uses clockspeed to counter intel at this point. it was a good decision to buy ATI after all since they would've died if they hadn't expanded their horizons.

the performance of core i5 is astounding... @ 2.6Gz, its as fast as a 3.2Ghz Phenom II X4.

but thats not even the best part....

The idle power draw for the i5 is 21 watts less than the already efficient c2q

Keeping Hyper Threading off of the Core i5 is purely done to limit performance. There aren't any yield reasons why HT couldn't be enabled.

Intel was very careful with both pricing and performance of its Lynnfield processors. I'm going to go ahead and say it right now, there's no need for any LGA-1366 processors slower than a Core i7 965

Hmmm, basin naay pencil mod to activate HT hehehe. Sayang though, I think the dual channel limit is enought unta, but removing hyper threading? This is like a basic function for a processor unta. Oh well, it's all about marketing

I wonder though if removing this would give an edge to AMD?
