.. thanks guys for helping out our friend here, but sadly, all of your answers is not true, all of them are based on fallacies.
.. it doesnt matter if you don't have any sleep for 5 days and you'll take a bath - it won't affect your eyes.
- these are the ONLY things ( being done daily ) that can affect your eyes:
- too much near work, near work meaning, using your eyes with your target at just 16 to 20 inches in front of you
- reading with no light on your reading material
- reading while riding on a jeepney/car
- improper posture during reading ( lying down )
.. again, it's ok to take a bath even if you havent slept for days - it won't affect your eyes.
.. fingolfin - your istoryan optometrist
.. reading while riding: you might not notice it but the muscles in your eyes are doing extra work to maintain proper focus on the letters you're reading. It will tyre out your eyes.
.. reading while lying down: it's the same principle as reading while riding. your eyes needs to be relaxed while doing some "work". Work of the eyes pertains to the eyes focusing on some near object. I've had many patients who has refractive errors due to reading while lying down and their main reason for doing so, is it's relaxing on their back, but not to the eyes. ehehehe.
.. but don't worry, refractive errors develop gradually, but in some cases it might be abrupt due to some reason.
