I don't think it's the same with HDR and the process is very different (HDR uses 3 or more exposure and merges them together, Lucis is more on editing to get the effect you see). I read a post the Dave Hill quoted that he doesn't use HDR with his images.

Dave Hill and Dragan are somewhat the same, it's all about the composition and lighting to get a somewhat high dynamic range and PP it to get the desired effects..

Ang kana ako photos bro layo ra jd na sa ka Dave Hill..n I don't know how Dave did it but bases on my research it can be achieved with Lucis Art plugin.. =)

PS. What I used in those pics is the Lucis plugin in Lightroom (free download), not the same with the one in PS (it's very expensive if u buy the plugin).

i believe your photos were shot with multiple exposures, right? and merged to create HDR? try using the Lucis Art plugin to see the differences between both HDR n Lucis..
