An Inquiry on Server Requirments

hi. i need help in choosing a server to host my enrollment system. so this is the case:

• there would be at most 4000 (viewers only) user requests at the same time
• the user requests range from simple browsing of data to complex processing
• processes include grade calculation, subject enrollment, subject opening, and other learning management system functions
• the web app is built on PHP

to add, at most 4000 users would simply "view" grades or profiles. and around a few hundred would process enrollment, subject encoding, and subject opening, grade calculations, verifications.

i need help in choosing the right hardware. and oh, the client has not specified a budget. but i'd like to hear about server builds from Php50,000 up to Php300,000.

I think it would be best not to rely on a server. Build a cluster of cheaper servers. This way if one goes down the rest can still process.

Not really.. This is still my idea from my research since im planning on building a cluster with a bunch of ATOM based pc just for fun.



Each of the nodes in the cluster will be loaded with the website and a version of mysql that works with a cluster. A round robin dns server
basically distributes the requests for your apps among the cluster nodes. Say first request for the app, you name server returns the first
node then the second node and so on. The second dns server is just for redundancy just in case the first one goes down.
