    Default Pa-customize ug Electric Guitar

    Mga bro...

Naa mo nabal-an nga mu-customize ug buhat ug electric guitar? Like pwede ka kapili unsa nga kahoy gamitun? Ang iya design? And kna bang maayo gyud nga quality - maskin ang pickup dili lang usa original anyway ma-upgrade ra man na.

My son has an Tele copy made by Edz which I bought for php4500. Since it's a starter guitar, the type of wood doesn't really matter. Only when one has developed his playing skills will the type of wood really come into big consideration.

The tele has korean hardware and electronics. Limpyo kaayo pagka-buhat ni Edz. It has a I-I-II configuration. If makakita og budget, we might upgrade the pickups but I will still have it done by Edz. Wala dyud koy reklamo sa guitar and with Edz.

If you want a Les Paul copy, palit lang dyud or order on-line og Gibson original humbuckers. Other option would be Alnico. Don't put single coils in a Les Paul copy, specially if you yearn for the Les Paul sound.

Original Les Pauls use Michigan red maple or lightweight mahogany. The nearest local matching wood is white lauan. The problem with our white lauan is that it needs to be fully kiln dried so that it will not warp after some time. The fingerboard can be local apitong if you want a dark color wood.

Edz made a Les Paul copy for one of my son's friends. It has an intricate inlayed fingerboard, and Korean hardware and pickups. I watched him perform the other weekend and the LP looked and sounded real good.

If you want a customized LP, specify that it be chambered. LP's are very heavy and will take it's toll on you when played for over an hour.

This edz guy is really making me curious.

Les Paul has always been my dream, I guess every rock aspiring guitarist's dream. Dili lang gyud makaya sa budget maskin gali Epiphone.

Naa ka contact number aning edz or asa man ni iya shop?

    Thanks!

Mga 300 meters from Jolibee AS Fortuna ang studio and shop ni Edz. Just ask the trycicle driver if nag commute ka.

Daghan klase species ang mahogany. The North American kind is drier, more dense and better suited for musical instrument. Other North American wood perfect for musical instruments are the Canadian Adirondack Eastern Red Spruce which is coveted for acoustic guitar tops. The Brazillian Rosewood is usually used for the fingerboard, and swamp ash for solid-body guitars because it is lightweight and dense.

Kung dense ang wood, it vibrates better thus it will sound better. That is why guitar bodies are best made when the wood has been cut upright or vertically, not horizontally. Imagine cutting the tree trunk from top to bottom and not across. Mao na ang sakto sa pag-putol sa kahoy when using it for a musical instrument.

Local versions that could rival the high-end guitars from abroad includes our very own Nangka for acoustic tops. Problema lang sa Nangka is that most of the trees have thin trunks, thus cutting it vertically means that one single guitar top may be a combination of 2-3 planks glued together. It may sound great but it is not structurally well made. That is why you hear a lot of reports that nangka top guitars warp when it is exported to temperate climates.

Our local mahogany has a high moisture content, thus it is heavier and less dense. But for me, our local apitong is better than brazillian rosewood and the finish is comparable to ebony. we don't have a local wood that is comparable to swamp ash, which is very light and is what Fender uses. Squire uses Chinese Mahogany, which is a lot like our philippine white mahogany.

Never specify pine wood or palochina, coz these are decorative wood. Nindot tanawon but lousy for guitars.

Thanks for the info... You seem to know much about woods for instruments. So would you recommend 'apitong' for a Les Paul copy? What are other alternatives for aptiong? Or would you say that's the best?

Aside from the guitar body, I'm also concerned about the fret board. From your experience with Edz, maayo ba ang iya pagbuhat sa fret board? Or can I specify the kind I like? Like the width, neck thickness, distance between frets?

I'm willing to spend cash on it as long as it's worth it.

it was just a guitar body. a replacement for my broken alder body. neck is a Charvel. but i have played an all-edz made guitar from a friend, it plays great. and yes, you can customize to the very last single detail of what you want. he has almost all the parts now from korea. depende lang sad sa stocks. hangyoa lang siya nga siya mangunay himo si guitar pero busy man gud na siya. im planning to have a flying V from him in the future.
