PC shutdown during lightning maka daut bana? pag biya lang nako kadyot na off na ang PC nako nag ulan ug kilat last sunday sa afternoon.

Btw, maski nag use paka ug nindot na PSU like silverstone, HEC as well as your using UPS mo shutdown ba jud imong PC if ma apektahan sa kilat ug dogdog?

Definitely maka daut gyud to both hardware and software side.
Hardware: it’s more than a regular surge its lighting discharge and there is a great chance ma-sunog ang computer. It is better get a separate AVR before your UPS and much better if you will get a high-grade UPS that have built-in lighting filter. Lighting discharge can also pass thru telephone lines and Outdoor Antennas. If you have Broadband DSL that that is connected directly to the motherboard built-in LAN / modem port will have a great risk of being burn.
Software: Windows OS, Partitions, Data and Database will have a great chance of damage due to improper shutdown

yeah that is corek, i just had a friend who lost his mobo due to static energy coming from lightning surge...its best not to turn on electrical/electronic devices if there is lightning...even TV and components will be affected by it...remember, lightning is a great source of electrical power !

yes pud akong answer, Iv also experienced this. so whenever naay lighting nga daghan, e off nalang jud nako.

bisag ngilngig pakag PSU, labi na kn duol sa bukid2x/babaw inyoha, tugswak dyud imu components ana, perti kusuga ana surge. =)

maka guba ni xa ug board bya.. bsta bad gani ang weather kanang sobra na jud ka bad dapat turn off jud.. labi nah generic lng inyo PSU.. tsk tsk tsk..
