    Default Hybrid SLI

    Can you recommend me a good video card that is Hybrid SLI capable? And is there any benefit in doing this? I'm not a gamer so I'm just using the built-in video of my mobo. But I'm planning to upgrade to a bigger LCD monitor, maybe 22" or 24". So I don't think the built-in video can handle it. I checked my mobo and I read it's Hybrid SLI capable so I want to try it. Is there any benefit? What does it do anyway? Will it make the video card faster? Thanks daan!

    ^hybrid sli means combining the gpu capabilities of your integrated gpu ( provided its hybrid sli capable ) and a hybrid sli capable video card ( AFAIK, 8400 and 8500GT, 9400GT ). Think of it as sli'ing two video cards but this time instead of using a video card, you'll be using the integrated gpu as the secondary card.

    @TS

    If your're not into gaming, then you wouldn't hardly notice the improvement < performance gain ain't that great anyway in the first place>. Maybe when watching Blue-ray and HiDef movies, and decoding movies to a high def format.
    *take note also, hybrid sli works only under vista.

    @ zyper_jag81:
    Hybrid SLI is a Combination of an NVIDIA Hybrid SLI-enabled GPU into a NVIDIA Hybrid SLI-enabled motherboard (mGPU) for the ultimate control. Dual GPU is another thing.

    ah..ok sori. my bad .. General mn gud ako diretso...hehehe...

    Scalable Link Interface (SLI) is a brand name for a multi-GPU solution developed by Nvidia for linking two or more video cards together to produce a single output. SLI is an application of parallel processing for computer graphics, meant to increase the processing power available for graphics.
    The name SLI was first used by 3dfx under the full name Scan-Line Interleave, which was introduced to the consumer market in 1998 and used in the Voodoo2 line of video cards. After buying out 3dfx, Nvidia acquired the technology but did not use it. Nvidia later reintroduced the SLI name in 2004 and intended for it to be used in modern computer systems based on the PCI Express (PCIe) bus. However, the technology behind the name SLI has changed dramatically.

    yes, but i decided to use it instead. but it's not yet complete. i'm still deciding what video card. do you think the on-board video can handle a 24" LCD monitor? coz if it can, then i don't have to buy a high-end video card. like i said i'm not a gamer. i just use it for browsing and movies. i was aiming on either 9800GTX or GTX260 cox it fits around my budget. so you think an NVIDIA 8 series will do? coz it will save me a lot! hehehe...

    @Der FüHRER
