hi dudes... new user ko sa linpus linux.... nice sad ang operating system, suway sad ko ani...

question # 1 unsaon pag install og apps like YM, games, utilities
question # 2 masudlan bani og virus
question # 3 naa koy external dvd writer... duna bay utility para burn og para sa llightscribe

tabangi ko bai beh kay nag lisud gyud ko og gamit ani

asa man ta mangita og terminal command para install?? lisuda sad terminal gamiton oi.... wlay executable file para ani, para diritso ra??

Tips for newbies:

1. Read the manual. Kun wala kay manual adto sa website sa Linpus.
2. Linux is not Windows. Things are done differently so be patient.
3. There are viruses for Linux pero wa pa kaabot ug 200 kabuok unya dili pa gyud active. 2 na ka tuig ako Linux Puppy ug Ubuntu pero wa pa jud ko maigo ug virus though naay f-prot antivirus ako Linux to scan/clean USB's (buhay buhay ba).
4. Things to read up on about Linux:
a. Linux file system (very important)
b. Linux package management
c. basic terminal commands (optional kay completo na ang GUI sa linpus)
5. Your Windows setup.exe and .exe files will not work in Linux. Linpus uses .rpm installers. You can however, install and run some Win applications by using Wine. All Linux distributions has a package manager that takes care of software installation for you. Instead of hunting around the web for the installer, these are stored in a place called the repository. It is the work of the package manager to download and then install the applications that you need from the repository. Please read the Linpus Help about its package manager.
6. For the Linux alternative of your favorite Windows apps, you may visit www.linuxalt.com or see the thread mentioned by aozora.

naa sad ko another question,

i have lacie portable dvd light scribe, nangita ko sa lacie website para utility para burn... naa pero dili ma install nako.. dili mo tiwas install dont know why mawala ra cya... donay bay built in software ang linpus linux para burn??

Di ko sure unsay gigamit sa Linpus but most Linux distro either use brasero or k3b as CD burners. Ang Lacie dunay Lightscribe Labeler software nga downloadable. .rpm pod siya so basin mainstall ni sa Linpus.
