GMA-7 launches 3Q primetime shows


GMA Network recently hosted a star-studded party for its partners in the trade to unveil its lineup of primetime programs for the third quarter of 2009.

The bash was a special tribute of gratitude to the advertisers who have consistently supported GMA Network. Four ground-breaking programs—a worldwide hit reality show, an original drama series, an international telenovela and an all-time Filipino classic—were revealed during the presentation at White Space Events Hall in Makati City last July 3, 2009.

New additions to GMA-7's roster include the much awaited return of the popular reality show Survivor Philippines. One of the most popular reality shows of 2008 enters its second season in August with more action-packed island adventures, tension-filled tribal councils, nerve-wracking immunity challenges, surprising twists, and a new batch of castaways who will play in a game of survival for a chance to win three million pesos.

Host Paolo Bediones once again takes the viewers to a secret location that will produce the game's second Pinoy sole survivor.

GMA-7 went a step further by offering something new to viewers by presenting the riveting drama series, All My Life. Topbilled by Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal, All My Life ignites the romance of the young love team after the incomparable success of their afternoon series Sine Novela presents Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin. Directed by Mac Alejandre and Andoy Ranay, All My Life dares to defy all conventions on traditional drama soaps as Kris and Aljur play mature roles mired by complexities of forbidden romance. The first primetime soap featuring the Kris-Aljur tandem debuted last June 29.

Aiming to captivate the hearts of millions of Filipinos is the adaptation of the highly successful Mexican telenovela, Rosalinda. The Philippine version of this soap opera aired its pilot episode last July 6. Playing the coveted title role is newcomer Carla Abellana, who stood out from the other talented actresses who auditioned for the part. Meanwhile, matinee idol Geoff Eigenmann plays the local version of the Mexican series' equally popular character of Fernando Jose Altamirano.

Lastly, the Pinay super heroine Darna, one of the most enduring Philippine comics character created by Mars Ravelo, will return to the Kapuso Network via the primetime show Narda. Marian Rivera will don the iconic Darna costume and will fly high as the sexy, alluring and voluptuous super heroine on primetime TV starting August 10. Being the unanimous choice to reprise the popular character, Marian will infuse a brand new level of excitement to the Filipino classic.

Playing the most desirable male lead role is one of the Kapuso Network's brightest and eligible male star, Mark Anthony Fernandez.

During the July 3 trade launch, guests had the chance to experience the thrill of joining a live dating game for All My Life and Rosalinda. Some guests also participated in a "Catch Me If You Can" game while others competed for the Best Darna Move with Marian and Mark Anthony for Darna. The "Pambansang Kapuso" Manny Pacquiao even made a surprise appearance at the event to the delight of the partying crowd.

Sa story conference ng Narda last July 01, 2009, ni-reveal ang isang kakaibang kontrabida sa katauhan ng isang dambuhalang ahas na may ulo ng tao. At walang iba kundi si Paolo Contis ang gaganap sa role na ito.

"Ako dito si Kobra, ako 'yung lalaking ahas na kalaban ni Darna. Ako 'yung magiging ama ni Valentina (Iwa Moto). Inihanda ko na 'yung ahas ko para sa mga eksena!" joked Paolo nang makapanayam namin siya.

And mukhang tuwang-tuwa siya na mapili para sa role ni Kobra at natatanging pagganap ito para sa kanya. He explains, "Kasi karamihan ng kalaban ni Darna, puro babae, kaya I think they wanted a guy to play a villain, too."

Galing si Paolo sa mga kontrabida at misteryosong roles from Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang at SRO Cinemaserye presents 'Suspetsa.' Kanya nang mabanggit na kontrabida siya sa Narda, he quipped, "Oo para, maiba (laughs)!"

At alam naman ng lahat ng fans ng serialized comic book character na ito na ang pangunahing karibal ni Darna ay si Valentina, at siya ang kadalasang pinagmumulan ng kasamaan. May interesting twist ba ang istorya ni Kobra at Valentina?

"Kasi ang tatakbong kwento sa akin, si Valentina ang ka-eksena ko, eh. Magiging kami ni Valentina? Hindi puede, kasi ako 'yung tatay niya eh!" answered Paolo.

Dagdag pa niya na walang sapawan na mangyayari sa kanila ni Iwa: "Tulungan 'yan! Kung part ni Valentina na mag-kontrabida, kanya na 'yun. Na kina Direk Dom(inic Zapata) naman 'yun kung paano niya aatakihin ang pagiging kontrabida ko."

Kanya ito lamang ang masasabi ni Paolo sa mga manonood, "Abangan niyo ang bagong show na ito. I'm sure naman aabangan ninyo!"

Siyempre, hindi natin masasaksihan ang mga mapamanghang kapangyarihan ni Darna kung wala din ang mga nilalang ng kasamaan. At ang kanilang pakikipagtunggali ay malapit na ninyong masaksihan lamang sa Narda sa GMA Telebabad!

Hindi maikakaila ang excitement na nararamdaman ni Marian Rivera para sa kanyang pinakabagong prime time series, ang Narda. Puspusan ang kanyang paghahandang ginawa, lalo na sa kanyang mga fight scenes at syempre pa, sa paglipad niya bilang pinaka-bagong superhero ng bayan.

Even ang pictorial ng nasabing show, seryosong pinaghandaan din ni Marian dahil first time niyang susuotin ang kanyang Darna costume.

"Siyempre kailangan ko paghandaan, i-maintain ko 'yung katawan ko at siyempre, 'yung mga fight scenes ko rin kailangan tuloy-tuloy pa rin 'yung pagti-training ko para hindi ako mawala," ang pahayag ni Marian during her pictorial.

Kitang-kita naman sa naging resulta ng pictorial na nasulit ang lahat ng hirap ni Marian, dahil napakaganda at sexy ng dalaga nang isinuot niya ang kanyang Darna costume. Very proud din siya sa kanyang costume and even said na nakaktulong ito sa kanya upang ma-internalize ang kanyang character.

"Nagtatransform ako na parang nag-iiba, eh. Iba talaga kapag buo 'yung costume mo tapos 'yung mga nagmo-motivate sa iyo na talagang feeling mo talaga eh fight scene na ito! O, 'di ba?!"

Inamin din niya na excited siya sa kanyang mga makakasama sa show, including Iwa Moto, Isabel Oli, Nadine Samonte, Robert 'Buboy' Villar, at syempre, ang kanyang leading man na si Mark Anthony Fernandez.

"First time naming makapag-usap noong 59th anniversary ng GMA. I'm sure hindi naman siya mahirap pakisamahan. Ako eh, simple lang din naman ako, 'di ba? Masayahing tao naman ako at hindi naman ako mahirap pakibagayan," ang sabi ni Marian nang tanungin namin siya about her new leading man.

Sa pagtatapos, may ipinakiusap ang bagong Darna sa kanyang mga fans: "Sana tanggapin din ng publiko na kahit iba na 'yung partner ko eh mahalin pa rin nila kami, 'di ba?"
