some XP drivers do work with Windows7 (and Vista)

this is my experiment
Installed Windows 7 on this very old system, its running fine by the way

Pentium III 1Ghz
ASUS TUV4X motherboard VIA Chipset
512Mb RAM
40GB hdd (10gb/30gb partition)
Trident BladeXP T64 32mb video card
Intex TV Tuner (Philips SAA7430 chipset)

there is no vista or windows7 driver for the video card so i just installed the XP driver and it works fine. i think the driver was very old dated back 2002.....

I'm using an XP driver also for the TV tuner card and for the sound card.. so i got all my drivers on this old system..

yup backward compatible ra ang mga drivers..im also using windows 7 RC build 7100 in my old system..some newer drivers are not compatible though..that's mo backward cya hehehe

If da an imo system and runs fine with xp, i think ok ra ka sa mga drivers. akong ECS nga mobo with via chipset para sa pentium D 805 nako, cya ra na ngita ug drivers online. even akong edimax nga usb wifi dongle iya ra gi install. Windows 7 RC 7100 sad

in my experience i installed windows 7 rc in an hp laptop, automatic install niya ang almost all drivers. ako ra nag install sa ati radeon drivers for vista.

@bhogs75: just use your Windows Vista drivers. During beta testing Microsoft suggested using Vista drivers. Or you can check the website of the device manufacturer for updated drivers with Windows 7 support. Since it has been made public that 7 will be on stores on October, most manufacturers will have updated their drivers then.

just read a recent issue of PC Magazine......nindot daw ang Windows 7 because according to Microsoft, it takes away all the unneccessary and extra fat of Vista. The review also stated that it boots faster than XP and hogs less memory. August-November ang expected release.
