it's not exactly the same. look at the hypotenuse side (the longest side). the hypotenuse doesnt line up to the grid. try graphing it out on paper. its an illusion.

the first pictures hypotenuse is slightly curved inward... or so i think... and the second pictures hypotenuse is slightly curved outward... that means they doesnt exactly have the same dimensions and figures.

or is it just my monitor? )

i think you can manually create a triangle and draw the lines.

then rearrange it, it wouldnt fit back in perfect triangle (would it?)

this is like Minimization problem, Shortest Distance or any similar problems in math..?

I've tried editing with Photoshop and same figure akong nakuha..
so, the hypotenuse side not aligning the grid isn't the illusion..
Coz I counted the blocks covered Fully/Partially and compare it, there's no difference..

This is how I viewed the figures..



there has something to do with the area of each blocks.

Btw, I tried Multiplying the Height x Width of the Green and Yellow Blocks
1st Figure: 5 (width) x 3(Height) = 15
2nd Figure: 8 (width) x 2(Height) = 16

Basta the hypotenuse is one way to look at it, the way it is divided.. and occupied by each block

These are my observations... any comments, corrections or anything is your own opinion.. these are mine... hehehe
