Default 2 laptops... one has higher specs but performs slower. why?

    good day,

2 laptops.. one is mine, and one is owned by a friend.

specs of the one i own:
    compaq cq60-215dx
    athlon x2 2.0ghz
    2gig ddr2
    altec lansing speakers
    250gig sata hardisk
    15.6" lcd (1366x768 reso)
    nvidia gf 8200 grafix
    dvd rw
    windows vista premium 32bit

specs of the one owned by my friend:
    hp dv71245dx
    turion x2 2.1ghz
    4gig ddr2
    altec lansing speakers
    320gig sata hardisk
    17" lcd (1440x900 reso)
    ati radeon hd3200 grafix
    dvd rw
    windows vista premium 64bit

just by looking at the specs, lamang man ang iyaha laptop, unya gi benchmark pud nako sa science mark, labaw man gamay iya laptop. pero ngano man nga mas responsive ako laptop? i mean mas dali mu respond ako laptop ug commands.

my theories nga maybe wrong or right:
    1. is it becoz mas bug-at ang vista 64bit?
    2. is it becoz mas kusog ang gf 8200 grafix kaysa hd 3200?
    3. is it becoz mas taas ang resolution sa 17" kaysa 15.6" and therefore mas bug-at?
    4. is it becoz ang turion x2 mas hinay kaysa athlon x2?

naglibog judko unsay reason ani. please help and give comments. thanks.

synthetic benchmarks doesn't mean better real-world performance. daghan pa kaayo factors involved.

    - software installed and running in the background
    - memory leak (caused by poorly made programs)
    - poorly made drivers since 64-bit iyang OS
    - dili optimized nga configuration (memory to frontside bus configuration)

so, in other words, mura lisod i-pinpoint ang reason?

hmmmm.... sa software installed bro, almost the same ra coz ako raman pud nag install sa mga software. differ lang sila sa anti virus. nod32 sa 32bit and avg sa 64bit nga laptop.

drivers nila automatic na mu install ky gipa dagan man nako na ang recovery mode which resets everything back to original including the drivers.

original drivers doesn't mean its optimized. bisan same pa ang software naka install, it doesn't mean that the 64-bit equivalent is well-written. do a clean install, install the latest drivers and BIOS updates then compare without any other programs na maka affect sa performance. in other words, do the comparison with only the raw operating system and its drivers.

ok try nako nang updated drivers bro. kanang bios update murag mahadlok ko musulay ana.. mura risky mana no?

also, kani ilang hardisk 5400rpm raman ni, would it help if upgrade to a western digital scorpio black 7200 rpm?
or dili na noticeable ang gains ana?

its not that risky on portable computers since naa man battery. main nimo nga kontra sa BIOS update is power interruption which doesn't apply to portable computers provided that the battery is charged. as for your hard drive question, yes...ma feel nimo ang difference between 5400 and 7200 so that's one factor.

ah ok, bitaw no ky bisan walay power connection, mag andar raman tungod sa battery.
i'll probably have that upgrade pud sa 5400 to 7200 rpm.. i felt the performance increase when i changed from 5400 to 7200 sa desktop.. i hope i will also feel the performance increase when i upgrade this laptop.
