Robotech aka Macross

its still the best!

who else here used to watch robotech over and over again like i did...

i used to love a number of toons on TV when i was much younger.
i remember Voltes5, thundercats, he-man, and ghost busters are a few shows i use to watch religiously.
but watching them again recently i find them somehow corny or too childish and in may times consider some scenes kinda stupid in a funny way. i can't believe i didnt realize it then.

like with voltes5, notice that each episode always ends with a fight with a more powerful beast and V5 throws everything at it and V5 is losing until he takes out the laser sword and its over. makes you wonder why doesnt he just take out the sword and save his magnetic tops and bazookas and other ammos. also when he takes out the sword, after the cut, the symbol on his chest reappears even though the sword is in his hands.

he-man, when he takes out his sword and powers up notice when he climbs on the tiger while holding the sword yet there is still a sword sticking out of his back. many times when he is running with his sword in hand, there again still a sword sticking out of his back hehehe!

anyways, watching robotech macross from start to finish on dvd was still a lot of fun...took me 3 weeks to finish...lack of sleep lang permi bilar but worth it...

The problem with the macross series was wala klaro ang istorya sige lang usab usab ang mga characters unlike the voltes v ba nga sumpay ang mga istorya.

Naa diay ko dvd box set sa original version sa macross ug sa yamato (anybody remember this?) the movie man ni pero murag sumpay ni sa series kay nahuman ang istorya.

robotech is a saga...the story line continuity is actually very good and character development is the best specially the 1st gen. robotech is a story spanning 3 generations of humans kasi mao na taas kaayo which can be overwellming for some to follow.

if you say mag usabusab ang characters you must be talking bout the 3 different generations. the 1st generation (macross saga) is bout rick and lisa and max and miriya. 2nd generation (robotech masters) ang staring kay daughter of max and miriya na (children of the 1st gen). 3rd generation (new generation) is a different crew of couse, with new toys/gears set many years after the 1st generation were rick and lisa are still in a deep space mission to find the homeworld of the robotech masters.

think of them like startrek...the original, generations, deep space 9, voyager, enterpries are all connected in the world of startrek but different characters and generations(time frame).

if you watch it as per generation, dali ra kaayo sabton ang istorya.

the best gyud ang 1st generation where you can see the development of rick as a kid to becoming a rookie pilot to becoming an ace pilot and an officer and becoming a true leader. even the development sa ilang love story is a much better story telling than the new starwars movies. the books (6 books for the 1st generation) was also a fun read btw

BTW, macross is a japanese tv series which was one of three series (Army of the Southern Cross, and Mospeda being the other two japanese tv series) that was put together to make ROBOTECH (dubbed to english/french/etc.).
so if you talk bout macross series alone...the characters are easy to follow

Mao to naglibog na ko

Maayo sab ang Yamato(shown on abc13) kay serious pud ang story. Mao ni katong boat ang porma sa ilang spaceship unya ang ilang weapon kay i charge pa gani before makatira pero once nga motira na maka destroy ang ilang weapon even an entire planet. Its nice kay ang ilang warfare murag parehas sa mga Navy.

the yamato i remember is a battle ship (a real one) down in history pag world war II hehe.

katong motorbike (called cyclones) are only seen in 3rd generation sila rand and lance...
its actually a personal armor...a bike that can transform into a battloid man size mecha thats as powerful as the original veritech but super small and light weight thats it can be folded down to fit the storage of an alpha fighter. some call this the veritech riding armour
