    Hi, I just want to share this experience of building your own lcd projector.
    Projection Size: approximately 150 inches diagonal.

    Materials Used:
    LCD
    Fresnel Lens
    Projection Lens

    For Light Engine:
    Metal Halide Bulb (Use small bulbs with short arc)
    Ballast
    Ignitor
    Capacitor
    Reflector
    Condenser Lens

    Others:
    Fan
    Front surface mirror-optional
    Tampered Glass- IR/UV filter
    Plywood (Housing)

    What's inside

    15.6 inch Samsung LCD, Fresnel Lens with Lens Shifting, at the back is the light engine...

    Light

    Reflector (Buttom), Metal Halide Bulb (Middle), Condenser Lens (top), Long Screws and bolts for mounting and fan grill.

    LCD

    Samsung 633 NW capable of 720P display

    depends, lcd is the most expensive part of this project. I'm using a 15.6" Samsung 633NW. Cost will be apprx 15-20k. Compared to commercial projectors which cost a lot and replacement bulbs are very expensive. For this project the bulb only cost 700 pesos and can be bought on local electrical or hardware stores.

    I will try to post some pics of my PJ. It's not pretty and it's big, if size is an issue you can always make a vertical setup which could save you space by using a mirror to bend the light and project an image.
    It is possible to use a smaller lcd to make your projector smaller.

    You can also visit ALLINBOX for other ideas.
