as Christians we are followers of Christ. so we have to follow His customs

Luke 4:16 - And He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as His custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

and also Sabbath is a Sign of God's people

Ezekiel 20:20 - And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a SIGN between Me and You, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

First, you cannot stop people from reacting, they are alive so expect that they will react to stimulus (aside from hot girls).
Second, this topic is hot it never cooled down, because the darer themselves said that no one accomplished the challenge since 1,000+ days it was started (and actually since the 7th Day Adventist started questioning it) and for the Christians (esp Catholics) already supplied the answer (supposedly) but the darers said it was not enough.
