but it also depends on how you use you rig? kung hardcore gamer ka bro and you have the budget you can go for i7.

yep ang current games karon kay dili man mo-fully take advantage sa > 2 cores. but still, ang trend is towards games specifically developed for multicore systems. core i7 is a choice for future-proofing.

@ lotud: anywayz, being a developer entails multitasking so i guess you should go with multicores. if you think you wont be updgrading anytime soon, then its a good bet to go with the best items in the market now. but if you just want a rig that will be able to cope up with the current needs of the apps (games, dev software and others) i would suggest a core 2 duo CPU or an equivalent in AMD if you like.

Mas maganda kasi pag walang AA pag nag-Benchmark, kasi magamit talaga ang full potential ng proc w/o the hindrance for AA Processing...

Magamit man rin ata ang 4 cores in terms of gaming, but as of this day, hindi narin xa kailangan, kasi most of the game ay being process by the GPU na. Pag-High end ang GPU mo, Ok na, problema mo na lang is wag mag-bottleneck ung CPU mo, kung low-end proc ang gamit... (Just correct me if i'm wrong)
