Why are we being punished for Adam's sin?
After all, he ate the forbidden fruit, we didn’t. It’s his problem not ours – especially in light of Deut. 24;16 which says that children shall not be punished for the sins of their fathers.

for me the first adam was considered as figurative or a representation only not to be taken literally... but how sure are you that children will not be punished for the sins of their parents... let ask rcruman... hehehe
Ow, the story of cheesus and his pink unicorn..

unsa kahay nahitabo kung tree of life ang ila gikaon?!
I only know and understand this: "God does not punish nor reward. We punish and reward ourselves through the consequences of our actions."
The story of Adam and Eve are both mythical and symbolic one. In my understanding of Adam in the Light of Theosophy is that there are two kinds of Adam. The first Adam is the old Adam or the Lower Self where man is trapped by his ego and desires which is selfish or self-centered. The second Adam, is the new Adam or the Higher Self. This new Adam is the new creation or The CHRIST CONSCIOUSNESS as being demonstrated by Jesus in his lifetime.
On the other hand, the OLD EVE is also symbolized by the lower self and the NEW EVE is symbolized by this "Goddess Wisdom" or SOPHIA! In Christian Spirituality this is demonstrated by the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.
It is true that children shall not be punished by the sins of their fathers and the consequences of the sins of their fathers can only be felt and handed down from generation to generation.
Unless, the victims (The Parents) are aware or mindful of what happened to them in the past, they will unconsciously punish themselves and victimize their own children and their children in return become victims which will result in further victimization in the future.![]()
"Did you lie just once? If you did, you already sinned against God."
->'pano kung hindi pa...? Pano kung bagong panganak palang?
being punished for the sin of others is not just.
"that's what Christianity are established for, 'to be saved'"
-> What's the sense? He creates everything, right? He creates us -imperfect, faulty beings - for what? to be saved?
very right bro regs in the point that in the book of genesis, the story is very full of symbolic situations that sometimes its very hard to understand if we read it with ourself that also sometimes some people interpret the bible by their own and make contradictions to other church or denominations which is one reason of chaotic beliefs that lead to confusions. but on the otherhand has an advantage for everyone to help realize in seeking the truth.
(only on my own point of view)
the effect of the original sin was already reversed/cured by Jesus, when He was crucified, he defeated not only death but also the effects of the original sin; in order to continue this saving effect, He was baptized by John with water, and in return baptized/blessed the apostles with the Holy Spirit. Today's baptism takes away the effects of the original sin as promised by Jesus, notice as the priest say "I baptize you in the name of The Father, The Son and of The Holy Spirit" then pours water in your head, this is not only symbolic in nature but also serves as a reenactment, a reminder per se, of the promise Jesus kept until now.
