I really fell in love with this phone: its size, looks and features!

and I keep searching on reviews if this really is a good-buy.

Since this is Nokia's first touchscreen, most of the comments were on bugs and glitches making it unreliable.
I wonder if these issues are already addressed by the manufacturer.

I have second thoughts if I will give this a shot.

OPINIONS/UPDATES from technicians, N5800 XM users, or you my friend are greatly appreciated!

naa daw mga glitches/bugs sa N5800 XM sir
others experience this kind of bugs/glitches:
tab, display, less responsive, backspace and or cursor placing anywhere in the text,
when listening to music m4a there is a hissing sound sometimes when played through speakers,
also when selecting any tracks there seems to be a bit of sound playing for 1sec and quickly goes off n plays the track u selected to listen to (this happens with earphones and speaker),
Zoom function in camera has stopped working totally (sucks when working things stop).
Supid D-Pad comes up for flash games/applications. This makes actual visible area for application very small. Can't touch piano and guitar due to this.
Flash videos cannot be fast forwarded or rewind.
When u apply the theme effects and then go to the gallery.. u cant switch between Images and videos/Songs/Sound clips/ other media... it takes a while to go to the next item...
but when u remove the Settings->Personal->Themes->General->Theme effects, the above said problem do not occur...
Also it shows wrong duration of total time of songs...i think it shows mins in place of hrs nd secs in place of mins.
More bugs/glitches/issues to come sir.

Nokia has very pathetic quality control in place. Seems like basic funda of software quality testing does not even exist with Nokia's development center.

I believe you can do it with the installation cd that goes with the kit or via OTA* (Over The Air).

*When you access the version of the unit by dialing *#0000#, it will have an option to update the firmware.
I tried a sample unit somewhere in SM hehe

For me, ok yung 5800 XM. nice tourchscreen interface, mas mabilis siya ngayon due to the firmware update. Since i bought it i never experienced the "bugs". it depends kasi sa country. iba ibang batch kasi. maybe yung ibang batch may bugs.. yun pinadala sa pinas wala naman.

The sound is ok. not that loud compared to other xpressmusic phones. pero the video playback is great. this is due to the wide screen type of viewing kasi malaki ang screen ng 5800.

Is there an update already available for the Philippines/Asian Nokia 5800? If not, how did you update your firmware using the update for 5800s from other regions without bricking it?

The 5800 i'm using gets stuck 30% of the time but now that I'm a little more familiar with it, I can handle how to unstuck it.
