heavy panting: is it normal?

grabe au m.pant akong dog, mura xa gkan ug heavy au na exercise when in fact he s doing nothing at all...is this normal? pero der's nothing wrong with him man, he eats well, is still very playful, wla man xa g.luya or anything..pero kana lang jud...he's been like that for months na, pero ok rman jud xa...im just concerned sometimes...pls give advice, thanx!

panting is a dog's way of cooling themselves-- so basically its normal or a better term would be "common" in dogs. more or less an equivalent to sweating in humans.

heavy/excessive panting which is often confused with regular panting or is difficult to distinguish from regular panting (accompanied with excessive salivation) on the other hand is one of the first symptoms of heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke.

i think ur dog is just feeling the summer heat or is just simply feeling hot. always provide cool, clean drinking water within reach and place the dog in a shady well ventilated area, if its really hot then u can place him/her in front of the fan.

but if u see other adverse symptoms or u think this isnt just regular panting due to being exposed to the sun during walks or exercise, u can consult a vet to be on the safe side, because there are several disease conditions that can cause excessive panting in dogs like heartworm disease.

@dark_rott: no, he's not overweight man, pero his cage kay naa sa and under the heat of the sun jud..pero naa man roof2x iya cage so ok rana dba?

i agree, so beter transfer d cage to a place not exposed directly to sunlyt
