A very nice island... white sand beach and certified tourist spot jud siya...
pero I just cant help but wonder why gitawag na siya nga "Virgin Island"...

Counseling for kids in Virgin Island trauma

Four children underwent counselling for trauma yesterday after their brush with the son of former Madridejos municipal mayor Letty Mancio, who angrily stopped a banca of family vacationers from docking in Virgin Island owned by the Mancio family.

The children were brought by their parents, who are from Iloilo City, to the office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD- 7)to seek assistance.

Social workers talked calmly with the children, then referred the families to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center's women and children department for observation.

One eight-year-old girl suffered from fever and insomnia after the April 11 island confrontation.
The family from Iloilo City was having a reunion at Virgin Island when the incident happened.

“Gusto ko sanang pumunta doon dahil maganda maligo, pero ayaw ko na dahil takot sa nagdala ng armas. (I would have wanted to go swimming there, but not anymore because I’m scared of those carrying guns),” the little girl told .

Nine people filed a complaint last Friday against Letty, her son Michael and an unidentified man for grave threats and attempted homicide before the Cebu Provincial Office .

The former mayor was blamed for not trying to restrain her son and his bodyguard from threatening the family and several passengers.

The Mancio's lawyer Nathaniel Clarus said his client told him that she was unaware of what happened.
The banca passengers were warned not to dock in the private island, said the lawyer, who added that Michael could not have threatened them.

“Mora man gani na siyag (Michael) dili kabuak og baso. (Michael probably can't break a glass),” he said.
However, the children's mother, Luna, signified her willingness to testify about really happened.
“Anong akala nila sa amin, ibon? Kung sa kanyang (Letty) anak yon nangyari? (What did they think we were -- birds? What if the incident happened to her (Letty's) child?),” Luna said.

“Hawak nila and isla, pero hindi ang dagat. Binili niya ang isla, pero hindi ang dagat. (The Mancios own the island, but not the sea. They bought the island, but not the water surrounding it),” the mother added.

In their complaint, the passengers said they were 50 meters from Hilantagaan Island olso known as Virgin Island when they were told not to dock their pump boat there because an exclusive party was being held in the island.

The passengers tried to leave but the engine in their banca conked out.
One of the passengers, a Mancio supporter, swam towards Letty to ask permission to stay in the island for the meantime.

The passenger then told the others that the Mancio family asked them to proceed to another part of the island.
At that point the mayor's son Michael, supposedly arrived and shouted at them to leave.
He was with a man toting an M16 Armalite rifle, who appeared to be a bodyguard.
Some passengers panicked and jumped off the banca.

The children managed to hold onto the side of the banca to avoid drowning.
The passengers were saved after the boat operator was abel to restart the pump boat's engine
