FF7 Fans rejoice! The director's cut is here, and it's longer (and bloodier) than ever.
For those of you who didn't know, a special COMPLETE version was released in Japan with over 30 minutes of additional footage. It's due for a U.S. release this June but I managed to get a dual audio Japanese release from the usual suspects.
One thing I did not like about AC is the story, or lack thereof. I grabbed a copy in the hopes of finding some character development.
Some changes from the top of my head: (may contain spoilers)
- The part where the Turks were attacked By Kadaj's gang is actually shown
- Kadaj is shown bringing Rufus Shinra to the top of the abandoned building
- Cloud and Denzel's first meeting is shown (on the way to a smile)
- Rude and Reno have more scenes and consequently, more dialogue.
- Zack's last moments are explored in more detail as is his relationship with cloud. "You will be my living legacy", he tells Cloud.
- Tifa and Denzel fight the creatures that appear in the Bahamut sequence
- Rude and Reno help Cloud by firing on Kadaj's gang from their helicopter.
- Zack offers help in defeating Sephiroth during the final battle.
- BLOOD, BLOOD, BLOOD, BLOOD, GALLONS OF THE STUFF!!!
- Zack lay dying all covered in blood
- Sephiroth stabbed Cloud a couple dozen times here, Cloud was bleeding all over the place. He was even impaled (right smack through the middle) and lifted into the air.
- Sephiroth reveales his single wing earlier. He also manages to block Cloud's Omnislash version 6.59b with AI PLUS!!!
- All in all, more fight scenes, more Zack, Rude, Reno, other Turks, Denzel and Marlene. The more the many-er.
