The new earth is the NEW SELF or THE NEW ADAM which is the result of the second coming or INNER SELF TRANSFORMATION. The external earth would still be the same.

fact is the 2nd coming is not known. For all we know jesus is already here and someone locked him up in the loony bin.

I don't think there is no New Earth or will it be in the first place. That depends on how your actions toward the environment.
