CURRICULUM VITAE OF FRED ALIMUSA ON DOGS AND DOG TRAINING

    1967 – 1976 Manila, Philippines
Started training own dogs for obedience, tracking, and early behavior modification during pre to early teen years; self-taught from early books by Konrad Most, Max von Stephanitz, William Koehler, Konrad Lorenz, Milo and Margaret Pearsall
    1976 – 1982 San Diego, CA
Learned animal behaviorism and operant conditioning from the animal trainers and behaviorists who trained dolphins and other animals for the U.S. Navy's classified programs on utilizing animals for military deployment. Started training dogs using operant conditioning techniques, dog behaviorism and inducement concepts. Learned and employed other dog training and conditioning concepts and methodologies from various seminars, workshops and dog training clubs.
Acquired knowledge of other dog training methods for Schutzhund, tracking, obedience, protection, and service canine from top German dog trainers; started training working dogs in various activities.
    1982 – 1996 Great Falls, VA
Trained and titled own dogs and other people's dogs in BH, AD, ZtPr, Schutzhund, tracking, obedience, protection, Companion Dog, Canine Good Citizen, conformation ring, breed ring, etc.
Performed in-depth studies and research about the Rottweiler breed. Appointed Breed Warden by the United States Rottweiler Club to educate other members on proper breeding, raising and training of their dogs.
As canine behaviorist/trainer, performed volunteer work and applied dog behaviorism to train and rehabilitate dogs in animal shelters and breed rescue groups in order to have them re-homed; successfully employed operant conditioning and behavior modification techniques to solve problem behaviors, including inappropriate aggression, extreme shyness or fearfulness, dominance, and other behaviors deemed “hopeless” by other professionals in the canine field – saved hundreds of dogs (from mongrels to hybrid wolves) from getting put down because of behavior problems. Hired as professional adviser to many animal shelters, breed rescue groups, boarding kennels and veterinary hospitals. Interacted and worked together with other dog and animal behaviorists to help in various rehabilitation programs.
Assisted some of the trainers of U.S. Customs (Front Royal, VA) in selecting and training detection dogs; assisted in the training of Police K9s from the Washington , DC , Northern VA and Maryland police forces.
Joined and trained with two volunteer canine search-and-rescue teams in the VA, MD region; taught the members the use of operant conditioning methods for SAR training. Trained and participated in regular weekly training exercises for urban, wilderness, cadaver and water searches with a “splinter group” of dedicated, non-political, and non-prejudiced trainers who believed in my training concepts.
Trained, worked and handled Therapy Dogs and Bite-Prevention teaching dogs that we took to homes for the aged, elementary schools and cub scout troops.
Trained own Rottweilers for cart-pull and took them to community events, like Easter, Halloween and Thanksgiving events, to educate people and children that the breed is not dangerous, but can be gentle and well-behaved if raised properly. These free dogcart rides we gave for children became one of the most popular in every community affair.
Attended more dog training and dog behaviorism seminars, workshops and clinics given by specialists and top international trainers.
Provided professional services for dog behavior modification clinics, dog training seminars, and private training workshops, including search-and-rescue, obedience, tracking, protection, Schutzhund, therapy, detection, patrol, and other service-dog activities. It was also around this time that “clicker training” was becoming popular, and, since the foundation of clicker training is operant conditioning, I also gave many seminars about this “novel training method” to the dog trainers and owners in the region.
    1996 – Bangkok , Thailand
Licensed by the Kennel Club of Thailand (KCT) and recognized by the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI – international canine organization) as a Rottweiler Specialist Judge and Working Dog Trials Judge (licensed to judge in the several dog sports and services, and give awards, certifications and titles); Director of KCT's Working Dog Committee, which writes and implements the policies on sports and service dogs.

During the APEC Summit 2003 held in Bangkok , Thailand , the KERBEROS Explosives Detection Dogs (EDDs) and Patrol K9s were the only non-military dogs deployed to augment the tight security measures instituted to protect the Heads of States, their families, and their entourage.
Adviser for the Thai Soi Dog Rescue and the Philippine Animal Welfare Society to help rehabilitate and re-home rescued dogs with behavior problems; Adviser to several Thai and Philippine military and police canine service units; helped resolve the operational problems of the dogs of the Army K9, which are deployed to track and locate terrorists and NPAs in the Philippine jungles (the head of the Phil. ArmyK9 called in all his dog handlers and trainers deployed from all over the Phils. to attend my seminar).
Provided seminars and workshops on K9 Search-and-Rescue, canine behaviorism, proper selection, raising and training of the SAR or service dog, including habituation; temperament testing; critical stages of puppy development; understanding canine communication, temperament and drives; principles of scent; canine scenting abilities and how to develop them; training for tracking and trailing; teaching the search and alert on find; foundation training for the different find indications; agility training for canine confidence on obstacles; gave seminars for Schutzhund, tracking, obedience, protection, sports and service dogs.
