    Default what happened to motorola?

Motorola Inc. hired Sanjay Jha as its co-CEO last August, intending to have him run its ailing cellphone unit and take it public as a separate company. To lure Mr. Jha from Qualcomm Inc., where he was the chief operating officer, they gave him a total direct compensation of $104 million, more than double the next-highest pay package.

and by end of the year Motorola Inc. posted a $3.58 billion fourth-quarter loss. What did they hire this Sanjay for? has he done anything to revitalize this brands mobile division? 2007 4th quarter they sold over 40million phones. the 4th quarter Sanjay started heading things, it dropped to 19million phones. what is motorola thinking putting all their eggs in one Sanjay Jha?

so as Sales of Motorola Inc.'s cellphones crumbled in the important holiday season, dropping more than 50% from the year-ago quarter and prompting the company to announce it was eliminating another 4,000 jobs last January making it a total of 7,000 since October. how did Sanjay react? he voluntarily reduced his 2009 pay by 25% and agreed to forgo his 2008 cash bonus. how noble of him. hehe just makes me laugh thinking why he is getting a bonus for losing 3.58 billion dollars in the first place? btw, please note that all other divisions of motorola are making money so therefore its sanjays division thats losing more than 3.58billion. it makes me wonder why motorola doesnt just fire him and put an end to motorola's two headed monster. two heads isnt always better when it comes to CEO's.

Motorola Inc.'s new cellphone chief is moving quickly to scale back the struggling division, simplifying the way it makes devices and cutting additional jobs. A lot of people sure hate this man right about now...this man who literally took 4,000 peoples salary and pocketed it for himself and layed them off their jobs...shame!

Sanjay Jha, who also became Motorola's co-chief executive in August, has decided to focus on Google Inc.'s Android operating system as the software platform for Motorola's showcase phones. October 2008 till now, we still dont see any results. maluoy ko sa mga gi layoff sa trabaho tugod lang gyud ani ilang cCEO.

ive always thought of Motorola phones as stylish and sleek pa laba jud.....sayang...

what a bad business decision move for them...I hope maka recover sila...but i dont know if di ba sila maglisod given the competitive economic climate for mobile phones plus the current trend where people have lowered their disposable income percentage....

I heard from a friend na they will no longer market their products here in Asia baka Europe na lang sila mag-focus.

well, if there's one thing Motorola should have done, is stick and then ultimately adapt to the American Market. Sila man ang pinaka or at least of the top 3 in terms of brand choice for mobile phones back in early to mid 2000-2010. I guess the major problem is their failure to quickly develop their Smartphone or PDA phone technology. If you notice, their so-called smartphones aren't exactly making a hit here in the Philippines let alone sa US or sa Europe. Anybody could see from more than a mile away that smartphones or PDA phones are the wave of the future. in this case, touch screen smart/PDA phones. That's why Nokia came up with the E61. it was all in front, it was relatively handy compared to the E90 or it's early predecessors. Samsung wasted no time developing such as well. They basically all copied from the idea of Research in Motion(maker of Blackberry) because it really did make sense, especially to a lot of on the road businessmen. it also gave the telcos a chance to rake in more revenues with gprs charges and such and gave way to the EDGE technology we now all use.

mao na basta dili magbudget para RnD, naanad siguro sila nga patok kaayo ilang phones sauna. karon panahuna daghan na kaayong competitors sa mobile market punan pa sa apple nga maoy nakapa spark sa competition for capacitive touchscreen and true mobile browsing.
