use a 40 pin 80 cable IDE cable or the so called ATA 100/133 cableOriginally Posted by Stork

FYI : cables are not designed the same. they have ratings:
most old plain cable are ATA33 : 33MBps (transfer speed, theoritically as the model suggests.)
soft, sleek gray cables with blue on the board tip are ATA66
yellow one are ethier ATA100 or 133
rounded cables are with manufacturer specefied transfer speed ratings ( mas sayon gamiton, limpyo pero mahal lang), or apil sa new mobos such as asus, msi, dfi etc..

tinuod iya ingon, ATA33 are gud only for old optical drives, newer branded optical drives are ATA66; mostly DVD R/RW drives : philipis, LG, LITE-ON etc..
solution?
luk for the model number of ur drive. if it's new one by seagate, it's ATA100
and others are mostly odf same speed rating, execpt for maxtor who are known for their buggy ATA133's HDD
wer to buy?
