I am doing a thesis about FM radio in Cebu. I would like to get everybody's input on the following questions.


1. Do you listen to FM Radio?
2. If not, where do you listen to your favorite music?
a. Mp3 players b. Internet radio c. CD players d. Others...
3. If you listen to FM radio,what do you think are the advantages of listening to FM radio?

2. If not on FM stations, i listen to MP3 players, CD players, imeem.com
3. i can listen to updated music, there's a newsbreak where we can listen to the music... it releases your problems and worries upon you...

FM radio sucks nowadays.. it doesnt offer any more interesting music due to the controlled playlist made by the P.D.

However, FM radio is still good for background music like elevator music or carenderia music or jeepney music for that matter... or talkshows and news?


To answer your questions:

2. Music Blogs
(its not what you think. there are actually legal music site that offers free muisc uploaded by the artists and labels themselves like Noisetrade, browsing iTunes and buy the tunes i like.
3. no advantages at all... i used to listen to FM when i was a young boy but that's only because there was no internet back then... my granpa said FM was good back in the late 60s and early 70s but it sucks during the late 70s and onwards..


However if you're talking about college radio or underground radio, that's another story...

This answer is only applicable for commercial mainstream radio.

I do listen to Reg's Coffeehouse though on live100.5 birmingham because he still plays interesting music based on his choice and not the station's regular playlist made by the P.D. (most PD nowadays dont even know much about music. They only know how to market or atleast they thought they knew) but that's the show i listen to on FM (via laptop)

i never find FM stations nowadays as a vehicle for "updated music", well except maybe for local bands on Smash.. hehehe

But good foreign music? hahah i never heard Bright Eyes, Reckless Kelly, Chris Thile, even Radiohead..

The point is most FM are commercial stations and are only bound by what the corporate world has to offer... Theres no alternative radio anymore.. It's sad...

remember that it was FM who made Britney Spears famous...

and admit it, If an artist sounds like David Cook, they're ok with it but if it sounds like Bob Dylan or The Tallest Man On earth, they're a bit reluctant.. It's all about commercialization and what they thought people would like.

I stopped listening since 2001 kay nagreformat na mn akong favorite station

Bati na man radio ron kay halos tanan stations, pareho ra gyud ug format. Balik2x ra ilang playlist. Wa gyud ko kadungog ug station nga play ug mostly new wave, classic rock, indie rock ug prog heavymetal
