Nalzaro: Mayor has no respect for women
I THOUGHT Mayor Tomas Osmeña, who is stricken with cancer, has changed. I was wrong. He is still Tomas Osmeña, who is known for his arrogance. Worse, he has no respect for women.
He called Gov. Gwen Garcia “Queen of Darkness and Tandang Zorra.” Recently, he called Kimberley Therese Burden, second runner up and the rightful Texter's Choice winner in this year’s Miss Cebu pageant, as “Miss Cellphone.”
How would Mayor Osmeña feel if we call his wife, Margot, names? Moulbo siguro ang iyang kaspa. That is, if his bald head still has dandruff.
Tomas was insensitive to the Burdens’ feelings. Calling Kim as “Miss Cellphone” adds insult to injury. She has suffered a lot since the night she was robbed of her award.
If the mayor does not want to touch the Miss Cebu issue because it is a waste of his time and is water under the bridge, so to speak, that is his prerogative. But he came up with a side comment that added pain to the wounded feeling of the Burdens. He rubbed salt on Kim’s unhealed wounds.
Osmeña should just have kept silent on the issue if he did not want to be disturbed and bothered considering that he has other priorities and concerns. Instead, he said that this is the most ridiculous issue he has seen as mayor just because the Burdens are making a noise out of it.
What does he expect from the Burdens? He wants them to be silent and to close their eyes even if Kim was robbed of her award right in front of thousands of spectators who watched the coronation night?
Is Tomas condoning the acts of those responsible for the fiasco instead of helping those who are aggrieved? Where is Tomas' sense of fairness and impartiality? Is this a result of heavy medication?
The fiasco was not a result of an honest mistake by an “a---hole” named Bruce Bollozos. It was deliberately and intentionally done by persons who are controlling the Cebu City Tourism Commission.
Now, the mayor wants to give an award to Miss Cebu Kris Tiffany Janson, for keeping silent on the issue. Well, Ms. Janson has to be silent because she was not the aggrieved party. In fact, she was allegedly a beneficiary of the scheme hatched by those responsible for the fiasco.
I think Osmeña missed the point. The Burdens did not only raise the texter's choice issue but also the alleged favoritism of persons who screened the candidates.
This issue is legitimate because the Burdens insist Janson did not pass regular screening. Her name was allegedly inserted into the final list. The Burdens consider this as unfair to the other candidates
There are suspicions of an “unholy alliance” between influential members of the commission and fashion designers that are also running modeling agencies that supplies candidates for the Miss Cebu pageant.
Will the mayor admit that he cannot revamp the commission and fire Philip Rodriguez, the pageant chair, because he is Margot’s designer?
Until now, Rodriguez seemingly does not know the meaning of delicadeza. He refuses to relinquish his position, which he has been holding for almost a decade now. He even hired a lawyer to speak and answer for him even if the issue is not about legal matters but plain and simple command responsibility.
Maayo pa si Bollozos nimo, Mr. Rodriguez, kay makamao pang motubag sa iyang kaugalingon. Ikaw nagtago pa sa pantalon sa imong abogado.
