What band or bands that you were really influenced by so much to the point that their sound will always reflect in one way or another in your songwriting, playing, stage presence, etc.?
Me, it's Elvis, then came Eraserheads, Oasis, Blur, Petra ( circa 1995-199

,and Weezer.
Then pag 1998 that's when i unintentionally started wearing my influences on my sleeves. And there are only three bands that inspired me to pick up the guitar and pen:
1. The Moffatts
Yes they might be boybands atfirst but atleast they were real musicians too. It was their album Chapter One: A New Beginning that made me realized that a simple guitar playing could create catchy tunes. Then later i was glad that their second major album (5th overall including the three country albums when they were really young kids) sounds like a mizture of Oasis and Bryan Adams and was produced by Metallica's producer Bob Rock.
2. Jars of Clay
i heard their debut Flood earlier but didn't knew who they were yet until i heard Five Candles. It was that song along with Tea and Sympathy that introduced me to the band. And i consider the album (was tape at that time) Much Afraid as the most influencial (although If I Left the Zoo is much better).
in 2004, i got the chance to see them live at Bright Academy....
3. Bob Dylan
Yup i heard him first before Hank Williams. It was my friend Luther who introduced me to this guy when he let me loaned his pirated MP3 with bunch of classic rock songs in it including The Band and Bob Dylan..
All I really Wanna Do and blowin' In the Wind are my faves....
but now i have lots of favorites and some new influences including Nickel Creek (and all their side projects), Fleet Foxes, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, and Starflyer 59....
But those three above were the cornerstones....
