Cebit 2009: Overclocked, with 1024MB of memory

Today is GTS 250 day, and MSI is one of the first vendors to show off a non-reference GTS 250 card at Cebit.

The GTS 250 is a rebranded and slightly improved 9800 GTX+ card, it features the same GPU, but ships with faster memory and has slightly lower power consumption. MSI's N250GTS-2D1G-OC is clocked at 760MHz, 22MHz over the reference clock, and it features a non-reference cooler.

The GDDR3 memory on MSI's card runs at 2300MHz, 100MHz over the reference clock, and MSI will offer the card with 512MB and 1024MB of memory.

MSI claims the card runs at up to 20 percent lower temperature thanks to its non-reference cooler with four 6mm heatpipes and the quiet Seaweed Blade Fan.

MSI's X340 slim notebook offers 4 hour battery life

    Cebit 2009: 8 hours with 8-cell, pictured

We found out that MSI's X340 and X320 CULV and Atom based notebooks come with a 4-cell battery and weigh 1.3kg. Unlike the Macbook Air, which they have absolutely nothing in common with, MSI's X-Slim series notebooks feature a user replaceable battery.

We learned that this battery should provide close to 4 hours of work time and in case you get this notebook with an 8-cell battery, we you are talking about 8 hours of battery life. This is quite good for notebook that will sell from €699 to €899.

We will have a few more details soon, but for start these are some hot pictures of this notebook with and without the battery, and as you can see, you can easily change the battery, something you can only dream off with the MacBook Air.

    Thermaltake's ZOMGWATDAIMAKILLU case

THERE IS OFTEN a product that as soon as you see it, you know it is the best product of the show you are at. This CeBit, the one that made me sit up and take notice was the Thermaltake Level 10 case, by far the best thing at the show.

The case is being kept under wraps at the Thermaltake booth, but if you act quickly when the PR folk are not looking, you can get a glimpse of the next big thing in cases. Just watch out for the 'no photos' sign, it is really reflective and screws up pictures.

Sapphire rolls out 1050W and 1250W PSUs

Cebit 2009: 625W Fire PSU already available

Sapphire is launching two new PSUs, the FirePSU 1050W and FirePSU 1250W, and the company claims they will come with a modest price tag, although it has not revealed the actual price just yet.

    undefined

Sapphire already has a 625W model with a modular cable management system. It looks good, and it's quite, but at $179.99 it's a bit overpriced for the average consumer. You can get it here.

It's an ATX12V Ver.2.3 unit with an 80 PLUS Bronze certificate, and in offers efficiency of up to 88 percent. It has three 12V rails with up to 25 amps, and is ATI FireGL i ATI FireMV certified. It is designed with CrossfireX or SLI in mind, and you can see it powering two water cooled HD4870 cards.

ATI is gearing up for the fight, standing its ground on the graphical front with not only the release of the upcoming Radeon HD 2890, but by slashing the price of its Radeon HD 4800 series. The hacking begins with its Radeon HD 4870 512 MB card, ready for end-user consumption at Newegg and other online retail outlets for $149, a $50 drop from its original price. The price cuts are supposedly taking place this week, just in time for Nvidia's big reveal at CeBIT this week.
