Default One Town One Scholar Program

GMANews.TV - ‘One Town, One Scholar’ program launched - Nation - Official Website of GMA News and Public Affairs - Latest Philippine News - BETA.

The think tank of this initiative should be commended. After all, there are many deserving students out there. It's actually a good idea that the scholars will be distributed all over the country with one scholar per town. At the very least, the parents and their kababayans will be very much proud of them.

This will give poor but deserving students ample opportunity so that they can finish a college degree. With this program of the government, students will be encouraged to study well if they want to avail of the program. More so, the students who will be given the chance to be treated as scholars can very well serve as role models to the youth for them to pursue their studies as well.

i hope this project will be strictly followed that they will give this to poor but deserving students...and no political intervention...sad to say that most of the projects of our government influenced by the decision of the higher rank officials...and so it goes to say "ang duol lng sa luwag"

"Interested applicants have to submit their letters of application to their respective schools, subject to the screening and selection process agreed upon by the municipal government and DepEd, aside from the program’s minimum requirements."

"A town scholar should maintain an average grade of at least 2.0 or its equivalent in all subjects, and must not incur a grade lower than 2.75 or its equivalent in any subject, to be retained in the program."
<== 2.0 is too low a standard. dapat at least 1.5 ang e-maintain nga grade-point-average kay academic scholar gud tawn ang tawag nila no.

"After graduating, the Town Scholar shall render a return service of one year with pay for every year of study grant within the country. His or her municipality shall have priority claim for his/her service." <== how about 3 to 5 years of service within the philippines.
