Default Filipinos told to venture into Japan care-giving jobs

    By Malou M. Mozo
Filipinos are encouraged to capitalize on the growing demand for health workers, particularly caregivers in Japan, as jobs relating to the medical profession continue to rise there amid the crisis, an official from a local university here said.

“Even with the crisis, Japan is still in need of more health workers, especially caregivers. That’s a big opportunity that Filipinos need to consider,” said Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital (CDUH) administrator Oscar Tuason.

Tuason, in an interview Wednesday at the sidelines of the Cebu Health and Wellness Council gathering, said while many are discouraged to find jobs in the United States and Europe, Japan is trying to make room for health workers.

To prepare Filipino caregivers, the CDUH opened in March 2008 the Japanese-Filipino Caregiver Project, the first in the Philippines, that allows caregivers, including nurses and therapists to work in Japan.

Tuason said the school has partnered with Japanese companies Konoike Transport Co. Ltd and the Jukenzai Group in the program’s implementation here. He said these two Japanese firms are aiming to address the shortage of healthcare workers in their country.

This is a good opportunity to all who is in the medical field.

right now, i don't really mind the money...just enough to send one of my cousins to college(sabot namo sa akong lola)...i've got a feeling malingaw ko ngadto sa Japan kaysa dinhi sa Canada, so if opportunity knocks, I don't mind taking the next flight to Tokyo...besides, I've got way more Japanese friends than Canadian friends...I'm a pinoy who flew out of Asia but never got out of Asia so to speak...lol

the biggest challenge to overcome is the language kay basin matagaan nimo ug lain nga tambal ang pasyente.
