Default Sata Controller IDE and AHCI

    Question...

Naa ko laptop ga dual boot ug XP and VISTA....

If mag XP ko, need nako I set ang sata controller to IDE mode sa bios kay if AHCI siya, mu blue screen.

If mag vista sad ko, other way around, I have to set my sata controller to AHCI mode sa bios kay if IDE mode xa, mu blue screen sad.

Naa ni work around para d kaayu hasol?

I dont know any easy fix for that, but what i would do is set the mode to IDE mode ( no performance difference ) and reinstall the said OS or both in IDE mode.

Another thing to do is slipstream AHCI drivers to your XP disc.
So u can just boot with Vista or XP without changing sata modes.

Downside is, u may have to re format your XP installation. Coz if you had installed
XP using IDE mode, installing AHCI drivers in XP won't solve your problem.

^ he's right. slipstreaming the drivers for Windows XP. Follow the links posted here.

Slipstream(for lack of better term) Intel AHCI SATA drivers into WinXP boot disk - HardwareCentral Forums

After that, you need to reinstall Windows XP. Now, if you get bluescreens the minute you enabled AHCI on your harddrive with Windows Vista, follow the fix below:

Error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive: "STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE"
