WITH fellow ALA Boys Z “The Dream” Gorres and Milan “Milenyo” Melindo scheduled for big fights this March 14 against former world champions, AJ “Bazooka” Banal will also be preparing for a daunting task.
Banal is scheduled to headline a blockbuster card in Cebu City in May against a top-class opponent.

Banal, who went to the US over the weekend with World Boxing Organization mini-flyweight titleholder Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, will be honing his skills under top boxing trainer Freddie Roach in the Wild Card Gym.
“AJ will be preparing for a bigger fight in May. We will see his development in his training abroad,” said ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu.
Aldeguer said they will set Banal up with an opponent “with the caliber of (Roberto Carlos) Leyva.”
Banal was successful in his debut match as a bantamweight. He knocked out Indonesian champion Nouldy Manakane in the fourth round of his comeback fight in Tagbilaran City.
After suffering his first career loss last July 26 in the hands of Rafael Concepcion, Banal will benefit from training under an elite mentor like Roach, Aldeguer said.
“Sending AJ to train at the Wild Card Gym will give him a psychological boost,” the ALA Promotions president said. (EKA) (source sunstar.com.ph)
