Ex-solon nabbed for kidnapping

MANILA -- Former Quezon City representative and movie star Dennis Roldan and six others, including a barangay chairman in Quezon City, were arrested Sunday for alleged kidnapping.

Members of the Police Anti-Crime and Emergency Response (Pacer) in Quezon City arrested Roldan, 48, whose real name is Mitchell Gumabao, at his residence at No. 1 Dodge Street, Filinvest II, Quezon City. Roldan is a former congressman of Quezon City's third district and a known actor in the Philippine cinema.

Arrested with Roldan were Octavio Garces, 50, a chairman of Barangay East Kamias in Quezon City; Romeo Orcajada, 43, of Barangay Silangan, Quezon City; Rowena Prado, 27, and Noel San Andres, 38, both of Payatas, Quezon City; Alberto Pagdanganan, 37, of Apalit, Pampanga; and Adrian Domingo, 27, also of Apalit, Pampanga.

Roldan's group was tagged as responsible for the kidnapping of a three-year-old Filipino-Chinese boy named Kenshi "Ke-hen" Yu in Ortigas Center, Pasig City last Feb. 9.

Prior to the arrest, Pacer members rescued the victim at the suspects' alleged safe house on Harvard Street in Cubao, Quezon City.

i don't know if its true or not, but the police has a strong evidence against him.

hhmm.. i'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt.. for somebody who's known in both politics and entertainment, i don't think it's more than enough to put his reputation on the line.. a person is considered innocent until such time the court will render him guilty beyond reasonable doubt (i believe)

just saw the news lately that it was the third time his name was involve in kidnapping..and before that there were also investigations regarding carnapping and illegal gambling...so this guy is getting more action in his life..

err.. bro tolstoi, if such is a fact, then question is why was he still on the loose..

possible reasons:

1. the guy is just innocent, and the fact that he's into politics ( his being showbiz personality undeniably gives him an extra edge over other politicians) then it's not impossible some might just wanna ruin his reputation.. it may eventually proves his innocence on the cases, but still the moral and reputation damage is something that can't be undone..

2. otherwise, it's just a clear demonstration of how corrupt our justice system is..

bro bert it's not just that...as reported by abs-cbn today, he had a pending illegal drug cases just b4 his electoral slate...so i guess your reason no.2 woud be just appropriate..
