PSU ticking...causes games to stutter...

Hello mga bros...

i'm having problems with my system...generally, i think it's caused by my PSU (HEC Winpower 550 watts)...

here's the thing, whenever i play games my PSU sometimes makes ticking sounds and everytime it does that, the games stutters..it doesn't happen everytime, but when it does its very annoying...I generally have high frame rates when playing games..

any ideas what's happening??

Antec 900 casing

Core 2 Duo E6300 oced @ 3.11Ghz (with Zalman 9500LED cooler)

try to set ur vsync to on bro..maybe mawala nana pero ang fps nimo is locked at 60fps...try lng...

tried it na bro..also tried differnt video drivers, reinstalled OS, etc. pero mao ra gypn...grabe jd mustutter...from arnd 40-50fps sa games, mudrop ra kalit to 10 fps for a few seconds maski dili kaau heavy ang grafix...and everytime it does that madungog jd nko ang PSU mag pitik2x...

sak2 c isyot_daut bacn dli kaya sa emong PSU nya nag 4870 pa ka dbah dako man na required watts sa psu kana na VGA maoh man na akong na kita sa mga benchmarks ug mga reviews sa net.

same here, low voltage. bro, aside ana imo post specs above, unsa pay lain naka connect sa imo psu? fans? uv lights?

during gaming, daku ang demand sa power paingon sa imo mobo, procie and vc. if d muabot niya ang required rating, mao na nga usahay mu-piti2x ang psu. remember, 4870 raba imo gigamit and naka overclock imong procie. same man ta psu, and im using it on my crossfire 4830, so far la problem...

kaya rman sa 550 watts ang ako specs, even if naka oc ang proc...i don't experience any lock-ups or any instability in high loads, especiallay in gaming...my problem lng is the stuttering(sudden drop in frame rates) everytime the PSU starts ticking...

before i upgraded to hd4870, i had 8800gts 320mb(this was also oced), walay problem for a year or so..same specs sa uban components(except for the seagate hdd and team extreem memory..i was only using the samsung 160gb at that time, and corsair 2gb(2x1gb) ddr2 800mhz memory), and same oced proc...with my previous specs, the first time i noticed the ticking sound was wen i was playing Area 51, and then i noticed na in almost all of the games i played from then on, the ticking symptoms would occur...i thought it was the slow hdd making the sound and causing games to drop fps so i upgraded to a higher cache hdd (seagate 500gb 32mb cache)...but wala gypn, so i tried to put my ears literally near each component to find out wats making the sound, and then i found out na sa PSU diay....

btw, the antec 900 casing has 5 fans(4x120mm and 1x200mm)...

@Zike: bought my palit hd4870 dual edition in my hometown in dumaguete (Acelogic)...12.5k last december..

your PSU is gasping to supply adequate power to your system...remember that as u put more load into your power lines, the efficiency decreases. your psu might be rated 80Plus efficiency, but what they don't tell u is that at what load is that 80Plus efficiency measured. most psu can make that 80Plus eff. grade at 70-75% load...but at 90-95% load swerte na kaayo if they are 70% efficient...

help ur psu...sooner or later the ticking sound will disappear & the burning smell will take over...
