Default Jonas Brothers Live in Nashville

i just saw the photos on CMT and had to check the you tube for clips. And kinda make me wonder if will they be going to a more pop country direction since the band admits they like nashville music a lot.

people also criticize them for being a pogi rockstars or boybands or not real musicians and mostly based on the fact that more teenage girls attend their concert not exactly to hear or appreciate the band but to gaze at their cute little faces.

But behind the strong disney marketing approach, these brothers are really artists. they write their own songs and play their instruments (the guy in tambourine actually played most of the instrument in the studio). and they also pulled some unexpected covers. fans or critics might expect them to cover some backstreet boys or nsync but instead they cover songs from creedence clearwater revival, the band, steven curtis chapman, michael w smith, johnny cash, etc...

in that particular concert too guests includes Vince Gill (who is a very respected musician in the americana, bluegrass, and nashville pop country scene, few artists could do that nowadas. they either praise in the other and criticized in the opposite end), his wife Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Phil Vassar, Michael W. Smith, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Jordin Sparks (Michael W. Smith's back up singer who is now also releasing an album surprisingly under RCA).

i think record labels should give their pop stars freedom to create their dream album when they already establish theiraudince. anyways most of their audience will eat anything they'll offer for as long as they wont change their hair or looks...

I mean not all pop stars are as untalented as Britney (even Britney now is learning, atleast thats what they say). Pop/Rock Stars like David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Bo Bice are not just image but they can really sing and play. But look what happens when the artist insist in doing his own music, he ended being dropped by the label. That's what happened to Bo Bice, Hansons, and Taylor Hicks and rumor has it that Kelly clarkson too..

Hansons still making music now under their own label in the subject they tackle is not really for popstars.

Some say Jonas Brothers will be the next Beatles. I dunno. If the label and the fans will allow them, maybe the next Beach Boys. I mean Beatles started off with I Wanna Hold Your Hand and She Loves You in the first place.

here's a great example of a pop star who can sing.

Jordin Sparks with Vince Gill and The Time Jumpers (a group of country studio session players playing during day off. )

I don't quite understand myself why these twits are popular. At least the Hanson brothers had one catchy tune.

It's due to Disney's marketing strategy. They were once in an indie label INO which later was picked up by Columbia but they didn't do well. They were kids at that time who enjoyed writing pop rock tunes and also did a cover of Busted's Year 300 which was rerecorded for the first album under Disney.

Columbia dropped them out because they didn't sell well at that time. Columbia did suggest that they hired some professional songwriters to pen songs for them but they refused cause they wanna write their own teenage experienced. And so they were dropped.

But by the time they were dropped they already recorded bunch of new materials which Columbia also gave them the rights of the master tapes.
So they shopped it around while touring independently until someone at Disney noticed them (christian labels courted them but they decline). Then the rest is history...

Their success is much due to Disney' marketing them towards the tweenage age.

Their second album is a little mature than the first although majority of the theme is more or less the same...

But i have a feeling they'll turn to country music someday...

I personally don't like their first album but came to love the second...

just like Norwegian popstar Kurt Nilsen whom i despise thinking he was just another product of the pop machine world until his latest single came out called Lost Highway featuring a duet with Willie Nelson. And i found the new album too is full of country songs he himself wrote (except for that single with Willie which was a Hank Williams original).

Kurt is fortunate enough to do what he love without being dropped by the label....

Camp Rock is a Disney creation. Jonas Brothers has nothing to do with it than just mere actors and another Disney icon.

I knew the band back in their indie days( although distributed by columbia, atleast they owned the masters) but what's disappointing is that they compromised their art for a record label.

Atleast the sound in their 3rd album (2nd for Disney and mainstream in general) matures a little bit.

Who knows their 4th album maybe disney would allow them to do something like Revolver or if Disney won't allow them, maybe they can have the courage to be independent again and maybe will return to their original label INO Records which is now home for artists like P.O.D., Caedmon's Call, Derek Webb, former home of SONICFLOOd, and Disciple.

So far i love the artists on INO Records. the only artist i don't like in their rooster is Sandi Patti....
