In order to streamline the legal system in the Philippines, a Supreme Court Justice wants to remove judges that cant use a computer
If judges in the Philippines don't become tech savvy before next year, job termination "for gross ignorance," appears to be an option. As the nation is trying to complete the computerization of its high court, Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio wants judges to become computer literate as soon as possible. The goal is to be able to allow judges to use an e-library of documents and previous legal briefings, which would be more efficient than having to physically look through printed copies of documents. If a court is computerized but doesn't have Internet access, judges will receive one CD with laws and another CD with decisions. According to the Inquirer7:
Today, the Supreme Court still provides judges printed copies of its decisions and circulars that are sent free through the high court's franking privilege. "But their thickness actually makes them cargoes," Carpio said, adding that the sending of printed matters will be stopped once all judges become computer literate.
Lucky for vulnerable judges that aren't too familiar with computers, new judges are being properly taught how to use a computer before officially taking a job.
