yes virus can infect the ipod...specially if its formatted using windows and ipod is setup as data disk.
however it wont affect the ipod as the OS is not vulnerable to windows viruses. but when that infected ipod connects to another PC, the ipod can infect and affect the pc.

OS of IPOD uses Macintosh or the implementations..

Windows OS uses different implementation...

It can carry virus when you plugged it in an Infected Windows OS and plug it @ another Windows Workstation.

All portable drives, flash disk or anything that can handle data can do the same...

but if you plug it in Linux or Macintosh operating system or anything except Windows, wala ra na'y epekto... IMO..

as of now there are no known virus for the ipod
