Also taking the spotlight was Lorenzo P. Niñal, a Cebuano writer and musician, who won the Best Theme Song award for Sine-Sine in the indie film Confessional.
There is more to this man than meets the eye. As one of Sun.Star Cebu’s news copy editors, he handles hard news: checking out facts and keeping a stern eye on “warring” verbs and nouns.
But behind all that business of making news, the guy has a heart for music.
Lorenzo, who is Insoy to friends and colleagues, said he was not aware that he was nominated for the song he wrote in mid-2005 and was pleasantly surprised when a friend of his sent him a text message about the good news.
“I feel happy. It’s not every day that a Cebuano song wins a Famas. At least the song was recognized,” he said. Sine-Sine was written during the time he hang out with local film makers. “I thought that if these people are interested in coming up with Cebuano films, why not come up with a Cebuano song that talks about movies!”
The song is a carrier single of the Sine-Sine album of Missing Filemon band. Lorenzo is the vocalist of the band.
