so, kung naay buang2x nga mo-upload ug video sa YOUTUBE nga naay kauban nga virus pwede ba d i nga makakuha ta ug virus from this site?

walay virus coz it's only a video in .flv format. it will only run from the web. You can download also the .flv file but you need a proper codec to play that format.
and Youtube is owned by Google Inc.

You shouldn't get a virus by just watching videos on Youtube. Youtube re-encodes any movies you upload on their site with their proprietary Flash based format. And as someone mentioned, Youtube is owned by Google and the site itself is maintained decent enough.
Now it's different with these dodgy porn/adult sites though. They like to trick you by prompting you to download and install an extra codec/plug-in in order for you to watch a particular movie. And when you click Yes or OK, you're not actually downloading a real plug-in (you didn't need it in the first place), but you're actually just downloading malware which compromises your machine later on.Last edited by obemon; 12-03-2008 at 06:48 AM.

you're comparing youtube to porn sites, which is pretty difficult to compare yet we have answers.

no. there are video extensions that also has so-called "viruses" that commonly come from porn sites. common effects kay naay mga browser na mo-popup when you play the video or daghan kaayog mga kuti para ma-play lang ang video. but then if you upload these videos in youtube, the effect will not work on youtube because the video is encoded by youtube into the .flv format where it cannot do anything but just do playback for the video. in short, pwede i-upload. pero ang damaging effects sa virus carried by the video will not work on youtube
porn sites, in common uses the same technology of what youtube does. only that some of the porn sites need you to install activeX contents which is harmful to your computer.
so just a piece of advice to everyone, if you like watching porn sa inyong office bisag nag-tan-aw na ang manager nimo, ayaw nang mga porn site na kailangan pa ka pa-downloadon ug codec/plug-in/scripts or activex para lang ma-view ang video. ug ayaw pud pag-download ug porn sa net kay basin naa lagi atong "virus". only view porn at your own discretion.

bisan mga porn streaming sites wala na man sad mga virus.. hehe.. gawas lang sa uban. pero kanang mga stream2 ra na sites kay ok ra man. nya ma-download sad.. hehe.
