for me? id go for the e8400.. anha ra man maoptimize nimu ang quad core kung multi-threaded ang application or games na imu epa run.. most multi-threaded games is kana man mga bug at... nyway unsa diay mga games nimo bro?

DUAL core means dual physical processor in one socket. Quadcore means 4 core w/c is more powerful than dual core. W/c do you want to choose?

mao pud ni ako gi pili-an sa una. ako gipili e8400 ky 3.0 ghz man ang clockspeed compared to the 2.4 ghz clockspeed of the q6600. gaming jud ako purposes.

most games today wala pa ga take advantage sa 4 cores, meaning if ang game only uses 2 cores, dili magamit ang extra cores. but when time comes nga mu take advantage na ug 4 cores ang mga games, dinha nako mu upgrade to quads.

if naay ligas sa mga multi threaded apps ra and gamay ra kaau og margin
then Q6600 are old types na 65nm then old architecture
if ako pili definitely E8400 akoa over Q6600......
price to performance ratio sa q6600 og E8400 lau kaau mas barato E8400 then mostly makalupig sa q6600
if Q9400 pa noon kato akoa over sa E8400

for gaming? this generation's games? E8400, hands down. a Q6600 may still be reliable, but a 2 year old technology is not something to be excited about.

today's games don't make much use of the extra cores the dual core has, let alone a quad core.

more cores does not necessarily translate to better performance in gaming.

and, yes, if dili workstation imo plano i-build, you wouldn't need a quad today. moreso, getting a Q6600 today for future-proofing is not a good idea, since it is a 2-year old processor. better offerings will come in the future, and will smoke the Q6600 in any way.
