    Default PT-04 Wireless Trigger Issues

    Are any of you using the cheap wireless trigger PT-04?
    If so, with which flash? with which camera?
    I tried using it with my D70 with a SunPak flash and it works fine.
    However, when I use it with my D80 and at 1/800 or faster shutter speeds, the camera seems to open only half-way. This is manifested in the photo with only half of the subject visible and the other half completely dark. I checked every setting on the flash and the D80 and everything is fine.
    Hope someone can enlighten me on this.

    its the d80's flash sync speed bro... if i am not mistaken ang sync speed sa d80 is 250 while the d70 is different it can go beyond its sync speed... mao nga half sa imo pic is black kay beyond na man ka sa imo sync speed sa d80 dili na kaapas ang shutter... i hope i make sense... hehehehehe

    like what szichri said, it's probably the sync speed. most cameras' sync speeds are up to 1/250. btw, what are you shooting with 1/800 and a wireless flash?

    The D70 has a max sycspeed of 1/500 but can go higher (up to 1/8000) with off-cam flash
    read->Nikon D70
    Guess my D70 wont be sold after all.....

    there is a limit to flash sync speed specific to cameras/flashes... recommend shutter speed under manual flash is below 1/200 for best overall compatibility. (this goes the same for studio flash and any other strobe flash)

    the ability to sync flash at speeds above 1/250 requires high speed sync activated in the custom setting and/or the flash unit itself via a special setting if available...

    this is not a wireless trigger issue

    yes its the Flash Sync Speed as the matter of fact talking about Flash Sync Speed on Nikon only the D70 and D1, D1X, D1H are capable to get 1/500 the rest are 1/200 or 1/250. Thats why half image dark and lighten up because the shutter curtain wasn't able to do a complete cycle with the specific shutter speed.

    A good reading can be found here... The Importance of Flash Sync Speed
