Four hundred students from Batarasa, Palawan were hospitalized after eating expired lollipops from Indonesia, the Department of Education said Sunday.
The said Indonesian-made lollipops were said to have lights attached to the handles. The battery on the lights had leaked into the candies which the children consumed.
DepEd Assistant Secretary Thelma Santos clarified that no one died as a result of the incident, saying that only 25 students remain in the hospital. She added that the vendor who sold these candies to children is already under custody.
