Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will be featured in ESPN’s primetime news magazine show E:60 Tuesday night (Wednesday morning in Manila) as he prepares for the biggest fight of his life against international superstar Oscar de la Hoya.
A report posted on DogHouseBoxing.com said the feature, which will air at 7:00 PM (ET), will take a look at Pacquiao’s rise from poverty to national hero in the Philippines.
E:60 reporter Jeremy Schaap will talk with Pacquiao about his big break in June, 2001, when he stepped in as a late replacement and beat IBF Super Bantamweight champion Lehlo Ledwaba by technical knockout, up to his sensational win over then WBC lightweight champ David Diaz in June, 2008.
HBO producer Scott Boggins said they will present the life of Pacquiao outside of his boxing career.
Pacquiao, who used to sell cigarettes and worked in a construction company, started his boxing career as amateur. At the age of 16, he decided to embark on a professional career, scoring 11 straight wins before suffering his first loss to Filipino journeyman Rustico Torrecampo.
