bai, diay ikasulti ang front man sa MISSING FILEMON bahin ani nga topic. intresting siya considering nga it comes from one of the pioneers sa BISROCK. didto ni gikan sa personal blogsite ni insoy, vox/songwriter sa MF: insoymada.googlepages.com

pagpalambo sa 'bisrock' (march 28, 05)
or it is nothing but a passing experience

i need to say this, and i hope friends and foes understand: i am not very comfortable with the word bisrock. there's something about the word that limits the kind of music bisaya bands play. mura ba'g by using the word bisrock atong gikahon ang mga banda. the word sounded cool when it first saw print, and when it was first heard on air.

it was cool because it introduced the emergence of bands that are not afraid or ashamed to use cebuano in their lyrics. but like any introduction, it should only serve as an announcement of what's coming. it should not be made into a definitive term. it should not define a community. or a lifestyle. heck, it should not be taken seriously. it should not be made a rallying cry of a movement or a subculture. it should not be allowed to create walls that separate a group of bands from another. i bet my skinny ass this was not what januar yap envisioned when he coined the word in 2002.

the way it is used now, the word bisrock has a ring of desperation to it, as far as promoting the cebuano language is concerned. it's calling attention to itself. music should not force itself on people. it's not self-conscious, it exists in itself. the last thing music needs is a word that tries to limit what it is capable of doing.

music is music!! musicians explore the world of music!! they shud not limit themeselves in one language but explore something that is unique and interesting!!!!

bati man sad gud nga puros nalang sad bisaya ang atong madunggan mopuol man sad siya!!

And then, there was this OPM Era sa panahon nila ni Rico J, Hajji Alejandro, Basil Valdez, Nonoy Zuniga ug uban pa. There was an era where Mike Hanopol, Joey Smith and others also dominated.

Ang BisRock, mura ni ba'g nag-define ug certain stage of the development of Bisaya Music. Adtong una, there was Yoyoy Villame and his Rondalla before in MB Liner, Magsayaw ang mga Girlboy, Butchekek, etc. Then later on Max Surban came in with a better accompaniment and musicality. All these are part of the development of Visayan - (not just Cebuano, ha?).

This time we have BisRock! It's all over the place. But it was not the people who made it. It was what the musician offered and was accepted by the people. BisRock is not putting a limitation or restriction to what the bands can offer. They can compose whatever they want based on their creativity.
